"While an AED can save a life, it has to be used properly," noted Surgeon General Regina M. Benjamin, MD, MBA. "Taking a class can be the most important two hours you spend in someone's life."
SOUTHINGTON— Hoops for Heart Health will hold its annual Fundraising Dinner at 6 p.m., Sunday, June 22, 2014 at the Aqua Turf Club, 556 Mulberry St., Plantsville followed by a golf tournament on Monday, June 23 2014, at the Southington Country Club, 150 Savage Street, Plantsville. The tournament will follow a scramble format, with registration beginning at 9 a.m.
Golfers will tee off at 11 a.m. and the $150 donation will include greens fees, cart, brunch, refreshments on the course, and dinner.
Everyone is welcome to play and there will be raffle prizes and all proceeds, including those from a raffle and silent auction during the tournament dinner, will benefit Hoops for Heart Health, which provides schools and other public recreation areas with automated external defibrillators (AEDs) and advocates for medical devices in public places around the country and the training necessary to treat SCA immediately and effectively.
It also promotes preventative measures such as testing and cardiac awareness to identify heart conditions and related health issues.
Hoops for Heart Health is currently seeking event sponsors at all levels, including tee, flag, cart, and refreshment sponsorships.
